Solar do Magoito

Internal Activities

With 11500 square meters (about 124 square feet) of garden, the activities in Solar do Magoito take place mostly outside. The area of the main pool, and its covered support area, are ideal for relaxing. Another relaxing outside pool with warm water is also a good option. The more active people can enjoy the porous and quick surface of the tennis court, or the table tennis. There are also bicycles, surf and body boards available.
There is no lack of reading spaces, both outside and inside, or maybe a game of snooker or cards.
The children have the traditional slide and swing sets to play in. We also have donkey rides for them.
It’s also possible to arrange fun activities for small groups.
Solar has a surf monitor and a guide for hiking.

Less than 10Km

Magoito’s beach, less than 2 km (1,2 miles) away, is our suggestion. A dive in the Atlantic or a walk on the beach is highly recommended. Surf/bodyboard or pole fishing are common activies in Magoito’s beach. For the lovers of extreme sports, there are excelente conditions for paragliding and climbing. Or maybe you would prefer a bike or a horse ride. There’s a airfield where you can rent an airplane to see the natural park from the sky.
Our visitors usually choose a walk by the sea, passing the seven beaches of the coast of Sintra.

The romantic village of Sintra, World Heritage site by Unesco, is 10 km (6.2 miles) away.  Its palaces/castle and its luxurious plants are the delight of all who visit it. Sintra/Cascais Natural Park, that goes from the Atlantic coast to the western tip of the European continent (Cape Roca), close to excelent beaches, surround it, creating a unique mystical atmosphere between the green of the mountain and the blue of the ocean.

Lisbon, a city that’s both cosmopolitan and picturesque, full of tradition, leans over the Tejo River. You have to ride on the Number 28 tram that goes through several parts of the city. Also, you can’t miss the charm of the old Lisbon (Downtown/Chiado), the typical neighbourhoods (Bairro Alto, Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama) and the western area of Belém where you have a lot to visit (for example, Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower). All through the night you can enjoy the environment in Bairro Alto, the traditional Fado houses or the bustle in Cais do Sodré, Santos and Docas.

Cascais / Estoril & Mafra / Ericeira

25 km (15.5 miles) from Solar do Magoito you have two different places to visit. To the south you will find the village of Cascais, probably the most cosmopolitan hub in Portugal. Its marvelous location facing a bay that goes all the way to Lisbon make it a place you can’t miss. Next to it you have Estoril, where you can find its famous casino.
If you decide to go north, you will find the village of Mafra with its ex-libris, the Mafra palace/convent, a famous baroque work of art. In front of it, at no more than 10 km (6.2 miles) away, it’s the old fishing village of Ericeira, today a well known beach destination converted into a world surfing reservation.
